Support Groups
Gamblers Anonymous
Gamblers Anonymous (GA) is a voluntary self-help group run by recovering gamblers to assist other gamblers. It is based on the same 12-step program, established by Alcoholics Anonymous, and advocates complete abstinence from gambling, one day at a time.
Gamblers Anonymous meetings are open to anyone who believes they are experiencing problems with gambling. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are no dues or fees for Gamblers Anonymous membership; they are self-supporting through contributions. Gamblers Anonymous is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution; neither endorses nor opposes any cause. The primary purpose of Gamblers Anonymous is to assist people to stop gambling and to help other compulsive gamblers do the same.
Gamblers Anonymous meetings generally take place on a weekly basis in most areas throughout Australia. Visit the Gamblers Anonymous website for details of meetings in your local area.
